7 Corporal Works of Mercy. 6 Events. 2 Weekends.

Are you ready for the challenge?

Project Mercy is a student-led, campus-wide outreach. In the course of two consecutive weekends (including two Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays), students will have the opportunity to participate in 6 ministry events, each themed on one of the corporal works of mercy. The ultimate challenge is completing all 6 events (7 works of mercy) in two weekends.

What will this look like?

Day 1 Friday, October 16: Shelter the Homeless
City Rescue Mission Homeless Shelter, Steubenville, OH
2 Shifts: 4:30 - 6 PM (This shift includes dinner) and 6:30 - 8 PM
Show Christ's love to the people at City Rescue Mission Homeless Shelter by sharing a meal with them and spending time with them (talking, playing games, etc.) This is a message of presence and the gift we are giving is our time, attention, and compassion.

 Day 2 Saturday, October 17: Bury the Dead
Union Cemetery/Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH
2 PM - 3 PM
Pray a rosary at the local cemetery to pray for loved ones in our lives who have passed on, as well as for those who died serving our country and for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

Day 3 Sunday, October 18: Visit the Sick
Catherine's Care Center Assisted Living, 717 6th Avenue N, Steubenville, OH
1PM - 2 PM
Visit with the residents of Catherine's Care Center in the heart of Steubenville and spend time with them, listening to them and witnessing Christ's love with the gift of time and attention.

Day 4 Friday, October 23: Clothe the Naked
Samaritan House
2 Shifts: 12 - 1:30 PM and 2 - 3:30 PM (Also Flex Shift: Come on your own between 12 and 3:30 to allow for Friday class schedule.)
Help the Franciscan TOR sisters and people at Samaritan House thrift store sort, price, and tag clothing, as well as help load a trailer of clothes donations to third world countries.
 
Day 5 Saturday, October 24: Feed the Hungry/Give Drink to the Thirsty
LAMP Soup Kitchen
2 Shifts: 9 - 10:15 AM and 10:45 AM - 12 PM
Help the Franciscan TOR sisters at LAMP soup kitchen prepare and serve food, as well as spend time with the people who come to the kitchen.

Day 6 Sunday, October 25: Comfort the Imprisoned
Letter Writing Workshop - JC Williams Center, International Lounge
2PM - 4PM
Come anytime between 2 and 4 pm on Sunday to write a letter to a person in prison. This is a beautiful way to show Christ's love to a prisoner and offer comfort to the imprisoned.
